Professionals
Engineers, IT specialists and other professionals have strong options. See which roles are in demand and where to start.

Perth
Perth is Australia's sunniest capital, with long beaches, a relaxed outdoor lifestyle and plenty of space. Mining and construction drive much of the job market, so trades and engineers are well placed here. It's also the closest major Australian city to the UK, and well placed for short trips into Asia

Sydney
Sydney is Australia’s biggest city and its main business hub, with the harbour, famous beaches and the widest range of jobs. Finance, healthcare and professional roles are especially strong here. The catch is cost. It’s the most expensive city in the country to live in, so salaries need to stretch further.

Melbourne
Melbourne is known for its food, coffee, arts and sport, with a laid-back, slightly European feel and a big tram network. Healthcare, education, tech and construction offer plenty of opportunities. The weather is famously changeable, with four seasons in a day, so it’s the closest thing to UK weather you’ll find in Australia.

Brisbane
Brisbane offers sunshine, a relaxed outdoor lifestyle and easy access to the beaches of the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. With the city hosting the 2032 Olympic Games, construction and infrastructure work is booming, which is good news for trades. Summers are hot and humid, with tropical storms, so it suits people who love the heat.
